Peyote Fever!
~the second of the "In Stitches" series!

Our July 9th membership will feature the second of our "In Stitches" Series with Peyote Fever!  Bring your seed beads, needles and supplies to sit and bead with friends under the direction of some of our very accomplished teachers. The goal is to familiarize you with the world of seed weaving and it's many variations and techniques. 

Leslie Rogalski of Step by Step Beads magazine will be teaching along with Carol LePage, Ronni Liebert, Becki Lott, Danni Narwich, Andrea Mazzenga, Doreen Lester, Dr. Judy Weinstein, and Judy Frizell.  If you had fun at Spiralmania - you will love Peyote Stitch! Basic flat (even-count), tubular, and other variations will be on the agenda!

Now, if you happen to be a Peyote Virgin here is what you will need to bring:

 

For Basic and Two Drop Peyote:

Seed Beads:  2 contrasting colors of size 8/0 seed beads.
 
Thread: Fireline (6 lb. test), or Nymo D, C-LON, or Silamide
 
Thread conditioner: beeswax, synthetic beeswax or Thread Heaven.
 
Beading needle size 10 or 12 or large eyed needle.
 
Bead mat
 
Scissors
 
Optional: Magnifying glasses, Ott Light

 

 

For Tubular Peyote:

Seed Beads:  2 contrasting colors of size 8/0 seed beads.
 
Thread: Nymo D, C-LON thread, Silamide or 6lb. Fireline (user preference).
 
Thread conditioner: beeswax, synthetic beeswax or Thread Heaven.
 
Beading needle size 10 or 12.
 
A slender dowel, about the diameter of a small bamboo skewer. You can use any of the following as a dowel: bamboo skewer, knitting needle,  WaWA  red coffee stirrer, or a plastic straw as a dowel. The dowel is used to support the tube while stitching.

Bead mat
Scissors
Optional:  Magnifying glasses, Ott Light

 

Please note that not all projects will be able to be completed during the meeting time, but you be well on your way by the time you leave class!
