2006

March 6 - Guest Speaker Leslie Rogalski, Editor-in-Chief of Steps by Steps Beads.  We were honored to have Leslie speak at our first membership meeting. 

April 10-
Jewelry Photography - Guest Speaker Frank DeSantis is a nationally acclaimed award-winning photographer, writer, graphic designer, and art director.   Also, Beadwork Artist Kim Z. Franklin.

May 8 - Featured Speaker - Bernadette Montilla- Marketing and Selling Your Jewelry; Panel discussion: Beth Botak, Manager of Blue Santa Beads, who will share her secrets to having a successful home jewelry shows. Kristen Covell, juried artisan and experienced craft show vendor, certified PMC instructor and wire teacher at A Queen Bead. This will be an open forum where the audience will dialogue with the panel of speakers.

June 5 - Creativity: "The Artist's Way", Featured Speaker: Dr. Lexi Ericson, President, Pennsylvania Goldsmith's Organization, M.A. Jewelry Arts, PhD Anthropology. Professor at the Blum School of Art.

July 10 - Erin Gonzalez-Hicks will be speaking on "The History of Wire Jewelry".    Also, we are going to be celebrating Christmas in July with a mini Christmas party. Bring a $10 gift for the Chinese auction. Wear some holiday jewelry to the meeting and Christmas/holiday colors to the meeting! We're kicking off our Christmas jewelry production schedule! Bring some holiday cookies if you'd like and be entered in a special drawing.

August 7 - Ellen Marshallis speaking on "Color Theory: Working Your Palette". 
 Also, we are celebrating a Night in the Islands. Island Night will be accompanied by a Bead Strand Swap.

September 5- Marsha Minutella, Ceramic Artist of Marsha Neal Studio will be speaking on "Taking your Passion to the Next Level:  Creating a Business from Your Creative Endeavors!"

October 16 - Featured Speaker and Artist: Linda Gettings on Intellectual Property and Plagiarism. Book Signing of "Great Beaded Gifts.  Also, Attorney, Patricia Smink Rogowski - President of Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association - will be available to take audience questions about copyright law as it would pertain to your work.

2007

January 8th - Featured Speaker/Artist:  Wendy Ellsworth, award winning artist and published author specializing in color and improvisation.  Help us "ring" in the New Year by wearing your most fabulous beaded ring and outrageously sparkly jewelry!  Become a MLBS beaded mummer with or without feathers!

February 5 ~  Theme:  "Romancing the Stones" Wear something red or romantic. Be our Valentine.  Topic of the month:  "Managing Your Stash"  several speakers will share their organizational tips and techniques.  Featured Artist:  Connie Sheerin, polymer clay artist.

March 5
 ~ Theme:  a Celtic Celebration.  Wear your favorite green or Celtic jewelry!  We also promise a "moving" beading experience from a special guest. - Azhia.  Featured Artist:  Franko - who will be speaking and demonstrating his wire wrapping skills. 

April 2  ~  Featured Speakers: Victoria and Harry Harding on beaded Loomwork and The Bead Cellar Pattern Designer Software.  Also, bring your favorite project to show and tell! We want to see and hear all about your designs. 

May 8 ~  featured Speaker - Bernie Pisarchick of Lodin's Gems and Minerals.  Come and see "The Knight in Shining Armor".  Cabochons, fossils, etc will be available for sale.  Celebrate Mother's Day with us!  Bring your mother, grandmother or daugher as our guest.  

June 4 ~  Spiralmania! - June brought the launch of our new hands-on beading series titled "In Stitches!"  Bring your beads, needles, and other supplies to learn basic and variations on the beautiful Spiral weave technique under some of our accomplished teachers!

July 9 ~ Peyote Fever! - July brought the second in the series of our new hands-on beading  "In Stitches! Series - Peyote Fever."   Editor-in-Chief, Leslie Rogalski was among the many teachers - a big turn out and a grand time was had by all!

August 6 ~  Herringbone Heaven!  August brought the third in the series of our new hands-on beading  "In Stitches!"  Despite the heat, we beaded our little hearts out!

Sept. 10 ~ A MLBS community jewelry-making extravaganza!  Members will donate their time and supplies to make jewelry for breast cancer patients undergoing treatment. Jewelry will be donated to a selected treatment center in October for our "Beaded Warrior Project." 

Oct. 8 - Featured speaker and artist - the PMC Diva with naturally red curly hair - Kelly Russell. Wait until you see her beautiful PMC creations!

Nov. 5 - Featured speaker and artist - Annette Tococonelli.  Annette beads and embroiders various found materials; blurring the distinctions between fine art and craft. 

Dec. 3 - Featured Speakers: Leslie Rogalski, Editor of Step by Step Beads and Denise Peck, Editor of Step by Step Wire Jewelry. The topic of their program was "So, You Want To Get Published".  Learn the criteria for submitting entries for publication.

 

2008

Jan. 7 - The topic:  Bead Bingo! Come play and win some great beady gifts. $1.00 Bingo Cards. 

Feb. 4 -The topic:  "In Stitches" beading series continues with the fabulous Brick Stitch!

Mar 3  - The topic:  "In Stitches" beading series continues with the fabulous Square Stitch

April 7 -  Featured Guest Lampwork artist - Louise Mehaffey of TheGlassPlace.com . Her work has been featured in Bead Review, Bead Style and Step by Step Beads. 

May 5 - Featured the work of ceramic bead & fiber artist, Anne Dilker of Moss Hollow Beads.

June 2 -Speaker, Meredith Roddy, Artist & Sales Executive for Beadalon™.

July 14 - Join us for our new workshop series - "All Wired Up"  This first session will focus on everything you need to know about making earrings

August 4 - Featured the beading art of Khara Shoenfeld in her Tie's That Bind Series.

September 8 & October 6 - Beaded Warrior Project  beading extravaganza.  Members donated time and materials for our Breast Cancer Awarness outreach program - The Beaded Warrior Project by making creations to be donated to patients undergoing treatment.

November 3 - Featured multimedia artist:  Dottie Hoeschen , of Stonebrashcreative.com.  Dottie's work has been published multiple times and enjoys working in seed beads, macrame, wire, and polymer clay. 

December - We partied until the cows came home. And ate. And opened really cool presents. And donated toys to Toy's for Tots!

2009

January - Featured Suzy Porreca of Veni, Vidi, Beadi.  Suzy discussed and sold her exquisite collection of Venetian glass beads.

February - Featured Eri and Brett Attebery of www.jewelrymakingprofessor.com  We made crystal heart rings! 

March - Featured Beth and Tom Botak of Kabela Designs.  We took the Kabela Bead Challenge!

April - Featured Martha Aleo - who got us thinking about using "found objects" in our designs.

May - had us beading a variety of projects to donate to Breast Cancer Survirors through our Beaded Warrior Project.

June -We played "Bead Bingo" and John Lester made us laugh as he called out the numbers!

July - Andrea Mazzega from Buttercup Beads taught us a fabulous "Fringe Fiesta Bracelet".

August -Doreen Lester taught us her square stitch awareness ribbon pattern and we beaded a variety of projects for donation to Breast Cancer Survirors through our Beaded Warrior Project.

September-More "Pink Beading" for our Beaded Warrior Project.
